ESR (Early Stage Researcher) Positions

The Marie Curie Initial Training Network GATIS is offering a number of ESR positions (Early Stage Researchers - with the possibility of acquiring a PhD degree) at the partner institutions following two schemes. All positions are also suitable for candidates, who do not plan to acquire a PhD degree, but who conform to the formal requirements mentioned below (Who can apply?).

Scheme 1: (Full period positions)

A total number of 10 positions with a duration of 36 months each will be announced through this website.
Each position is allocated at one of the partner institutions, where the candidate will be able to register for a PhD degree. Young researchers appointed through this scheme will have the chance to spend at least 3 months at the respective partner institutions.

Scheme 2: (Short period positions)

A total number of 7 positions for ESRs, who are already enrolled as PhD students at some research institution will be offered. While remaining registered with their home institution, these young researchers will have the opportunity to spend up to 12 months at one of the network partners and will be payed by the network during this period.

Salary

In both schemes the gross salary contribution of the European Union is c*38000 euros/year, depending on the country of recruitment (compare coefficients c below) plus an additional mobility allowance of 700 euros/month (or 1000 euros/month for married students).

Germany: c = 0.948, UK: c = 1.344, France: c = 1.161, Sweden: c = 1.186, Portugal: c = 0.85.
